Through the last twenty one years, there have been times where I've professed to be a believer but my actions have said otherwise. There have been times where I claim His promises of blessings but wasn't willing to submit to Him. My anger, lust or lack of interest has taken over in my life due to the fact that I wasn't reading His word or praying on a consistent basis. About 9 years ago, the Lord laid on me a thorn on my flesh, severe back pain and numbness in my leg. Like the Apostle Paul, I found myself petitioning God to remove this thorn in my flesh. I went out on permanent disability because of the severe back and leg pain. I went through 10 surgeries and I found myself turning to God more than I ever had. There was no way I could get through the pain or anguish without Him. In my mind, I became like the woman in Matthew 9, who was reaching out to touch Christ's robe to be healed. I may not be healed but I am whole with Christ. Even though God hasn't removed this thorn from me, I have become stronger through Christ working in my weakness. I've gone out into the world and my local community to preach the gospel of Christ like Matthew 28 commands us. 1 Peter 3:15 tells us to always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. I find myself wanting to be ready, seeking His word and His purpose so that I can bring glory to God and like 1 Timothy 4:2 tells us, I must preach the Word and be prepared in season and out of season.
